Description
On Saturday, July 28, 2007, the communities of St. Ignace and Mackinaw City celebrated 50 years of the Mackinac Bridge - the five mile long suspension bridge which links the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
The day concluded with a closing of the Mackinac Bridge to traffic and simultaneous fireworks displays at the foot of the bridge in both Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. This photo was taken from the shoreline of the Straits of Mackinac next to Fort Michilimackinac.
