Artist's Description

In the winter, the Kansas River in downtown Lawrence, Kansas is a great location to see eagles and other birds. The waterfall created by the Bowersock Dam keepss the river below it free of ice, when all the other bodies of water in the area are covered with ice.

This stretch of the Kansas River may have a variety of water birds and as many as 40 bald eaglesn watching for fish stunned by their passage over the dam.

This photograph was taken on New Years Day of 2008.
