Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park is a 53 acre city park in Lenexa, Kansas (metropolitan Kansas City). The pond in the distance is called Rose's Pond and is named for the family who donated it to the city.
Sar-Ko-Par was a Creek Indian warrior who served in the U.S. military during the Creek War of 1836. He died in 1849. The land the park lies on, what part of a grant of land which was made to the heirs of Sar-Ko-Par for his service.
Keith Stokes usually has a camera in his hand - photographing Mackinaw City & Mackinac Island in northern Michigan for MightyMac.org, Kansas & Kansas City for KansasTravel.org and science fiction conventions for MidAmericon.org. His photos appear regularly in Locus Magazine, the Food Channel Magazine and other publications and books. His photograph of Pillsbury Crossing was the cover of a recent K-Stater Magazine.
