This photo was taken a few minutes after the launch of the United States Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw (WLBB 30) on April 2, 2005. It was used for the Fall, 2005 cover of U. S. Coast Guard Engineering, Electronics & Logistics Quarterly.

Behind the Mackinaw, you see Marinette Marine's Wisconsin shipyard. The boats are on the Menominee River, which runs between Michigan and Wisconsin and the photo was taken from Menominee, Michigan.
