The Mackinac Bridge in northern Michigan is the longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere and one of the most beautiful structures in the world. It opened in 1957, crossing the Straits of Mackinac and linking the Upper Peninsula and Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
