Although this is the most photographed church in Kansas, few people would recognize this as St. Fidelis Church, "The Cathedral of the Plains" in Victoria, Kansas. The hundred year old German immigrant church is 220 feet long, 110 feet wide at the transepts and 75 feet at the nave. It has seating for 1,100 people, much more than the population of Victoria.
This photogtaph was taken on September 23, 2005 with a Nikon E8700 set with the lens at F/4.2, 1/24 second shutter speed and ISO-50.
Keith Stokes usually has a camera in his hand - photographing Mackinaw City & Mackinac Island in northern Michigan for MightyMac.org, Kansas & Kansas City for KansasTravel.org and science fiction conventions for MidAmericon.org. His photos appear regularly in Locus Magazine, the Food Channel Magazine and other publications and books. His photograph of Pillsbury Crossing was the cover of a recent K-Stater Magazine.
